CL & Minzy (2NE1) – Please Don’t Go

Tracklist: 1. Please Don’t Go

CL & Minzy’s ‘solo’ single was released on November 20, 2009 as a digital single.

———————————————————————————————-

1. ‘Please Don’t Go’ is an upbeat track that features the (epic) rap skills of CL & Minzy of 2NE1. When I first heard this track I was suprised when they went into singing in the chorus, I thought it would be only rap. It was a pleasent suprise though. The verses features a cool vibe, while the chorusses and other singing parts feature a more ‘cute’ vibe. It shows that CL & Minzy sure can sing too. Everything in this song is pretty smooth and I must say that I absolutely love it. It might take some time for someone to really get into it (it was like that for me the first time) but once you’ve listened through it, you’ll get hooked, trust me. I was kinda disappointed though that they both didn’t had a solo single, but their voices really fit together, so this is fine for me too.

and just because I loved the ‘2NE1 musical’ on MAMA (where CL suddenly showed that she has very powerfull vocals!), here’s the epic vid:

I would love to hear CL singing more! ^^

f(x) – Chu~♡ Review

Tracklist: 1. Chu~♡/2. Step By Me/3. You Are My Destiny f(Luna+Krystal)

After some hiatus i’m back =]

f(x)’s first single album, Chu~♡, was released on November 9.

———————————————————————————————-

1. The leading single of the album, ‘Chu~♡’, is an upbeat track with a ‘modern fairytale’ story. The song is really addicting as they start to sing ‘do it do it chu~ it’s true true true true it’s you~‘. There are a lot more addicting parts in the verses as they start singing between the lines ‘Aigoo ai goo goo goo goo and yeah babe, yeah babe, yeah babe!‘ and the ‘grow up‘ parts. The second part of the chorus is very unique when you hear strings added, which give a cool vibe to the whole song. At Amber’s rap it suddenly goes to another beat, but it fits and smoothly goes back to the song with ‘do it, Chu~’. Overall, this is a pretty catchy song and a good one to listen to.

2. ‘Step By Me’ is an upbeat song, but rather than Chu~♡ this song is a lot calmer and sort of cuter. The song starts with a cute piano (which you will hear throughout the song), while you hear a’s in the background. The chorusses starts with 1, 2, 3…’ and later ‘4, 5, 6… which make the chorusses addictive. You can hear electric tunes in the background that kind of play along with the voices, these are a really nice add. Overall, the song is okay.

3. ‘You Are My Destiny’ is a slow ballad by Luna and Krystal that really showcases the voices of these two. The verses are ok, but I personally think the chorusses are way better than the verses. In the bridge you can hear their strong voices, and Krystal sure has a voice for someone that young. This ballad is not really a special ballad if you know what I mean, I’ve heard better, but it’s nice to hear a song that showcases their voices more, ’cause ‘Chu‘, ‘Step By Me’ and ‘lA chA tA’ didn’t really do that.

2 New artists added

Well, recently, there are 2 more K-pop girlgroups in the K-pop scenery that caught my attention, so I decided to add: f(x) and T-ara (or Tiara)

Lachata by f(x) has simply got me addicted

I knew T-ara from the song Good Person, they song it for the OST of Cinderella Man i believe, since then they’ve got my attention because of their vocal capacaties ^^

Their new song is pretty good too, Lies

Please watch out for f(x) and T-ara, I’m pretty sure they’re gonna be very popular! =]

Honeysh – Shall I Get Married? Review

Tracklist: 1.  한 장의 추억 (Memories of One 2009 Version)/2. 시집이나 갈까 (Shall I Get Married?)/3. Dear Mr. Superstar

Shall I Get Married is Honeysh first single and was released on 11 August, 2009

———————————————————————————————-

1. Honeysh first single starts of with a calm song named ‘한 장의 추억 (Memories of One 2009 Version)’. I think they captured the feeling of the song well with their vocals, they kept it calm with not too much strength and I must say I really like their high notes. The rapper did a pretty good job too. The song has a really sweet feel and a melody you can easy follow. I like especially the chorusses. This is a nice song if you want to relax.

2. The second track (and the lead single) is a more upbeat track called ‘시집이나 갈까 (Shall I Get Married?)’. I find this song really addicting. I believe because they repeat a lot of things and they do it with only a few notes (Same like in Sorry Sorry from Super Junior, I know the songs are really different, but it’s an example of repeating things or songs with only a few notes ^^). Although this song is more of an upbeat track, I still find it relaxing to listen too. It feels like a song I could listen too when I’m on the beach =] But i hate the MV, ofcourse you can show off you have a good body, but don’t go zooming in… you know what I mean when you see the Mv:

3. I find ‘Dear mr. Superstar‘ pretty amusing. I think it’s pretty similiair to Shall I Get Married? The arrangement is pretty unique, so is the whole song exactly. The electric notes you hear troughout the whole song gives a really nice feel, it’s something I can’t explain, I think you have to hear it for yourself ^^. I love the Dear Mr. Superstar~ parts, but actually I love the verses too. The Tu, turu, tu~ at the background of the chorusses are a perfect add too.

Although Shall I Get Married? was the lead single, I thought it was the most boring song on the single. (And it wasn’t even boring or something, but most boring out of the 3, so imagine how much I’m enjoying Honeysh ^^) Memories of One or Dear Mr. Superstar probably would have scored better in my opinion. But I have to admit, they have an unique sound and an own style you can feel through this whole single. It’s a shame they aren’t really receiving much attention.

Must Hear: 한 장의 추억 (Memories of One 2009 Version)

Rating: 7/10

Girls’ Generation – The Second Mini Album: Genie Review

Tracklist: 1. 소원을 말해봐 (Genie)/2. Etude/3. 여자친구 (Girlfriend)/4. 남자친구 (Boyfriend)/5. 동화 (My Child)/6. 1년 後 (One Year Later)  (Jessica ft. Onew)

Genie is Girls’ Generation second mini album, it was released on June 29, 2009

———————————————————————————————-

1. 소원을 말해봐 (Genie) is really a song that shows their mature side. They’ve always had a cute image, but this song shows that they can be sexy too. You could call this song a dance song, instead of a pop song. The song is really addictive, especially the chorus and the ‘Sowoneul Mareba (I’m Genie for you….)’ parts, I really find this song worth the listen ^^

2. Etude goes back into their old style more, as it shows their cute image again ^^ It’s a really happy and addictive song, i find especially the verses really nice. Although this song is not really special it’s definitely something to give a listen to.

3. 여자친구 (Girlfriend) reminds me of the 20th century, lol. It really has a old feel at the beginning, but I like the song very much. It’s very addictive. I listen to this song especially because of Sunny. I really understand why they call her ‘Dolphin voice Sunny’ now haha.

4. 남자친구 (Boyfriend) might want to give some wrong ideas when they start singing with ‘So many boys want to give it to me…‘ etc. I thought it was gonna be more of a sexy track, but it turned out to be a cute track again. I still like it, it’s pretty addictive when they’re singing ‘boyfriend’ in the chorus.

5. 동화 (My Child) is a calming song which gives a theme park or fantasy like feeling for some reason. When you hear the instrumental (short) break it pretty much give you a feeling of being in a circus or something xD. I would love to hear this when I walk around in the Efteling (it’s a dutch themepark). I really like this track, it gives a happy feeling.

6. I’m pretty much in love with 1년 後 (One Year Later) since it features one of my most faves of SHINee and SNSD. Both there voices are really awesome and they really fit each other. Jessica’s voice is really powerfull and Onew’s voice just makes me melt >.< The melody is really beautifull and I really like the bass and piano. The lyrics translation pretty much filled in some of my experiences (lyrics and translation: http://www.jpopasia.com/lyrics/29491/girlsgeneration/1-year-later.html ) So this track is even more beautifull and meaningfull to me.

Must hears: 여자친구 (Girlfriend)/1년 後 (One Year Later)/소원을 말해봐 (Genie)

Rating: 8/10

Solbi – 벌 받을 거야 (Punished) Review

Tracklist: 1. 벌 받을 거야 (Punished)/2. Love Escort

———————————————————————————————-

1. 벌 받을 거야 (Punished) is a slow ballad. It really shows the strong vocals of Solbi. I’ve always been a fan of her since I watched We Got Married, when she performed Cute Love together with Andy, I had absolutely no idea she had such strong vocals at that time. I love the verses, it’s really calm. I love how she sings the ‘anni’s’ (or how you write them) with so much emotion, it’s almost like she’s crying. The arrangement is really nice. I love guitars (You know I love them, look at my other reviews haha) and violins.

2. The tune of Love Escort is really catchy. It’s totally different from the lead single, I thought the single would stay in the ballad form, haha. It’s a really cute, bubbly song. I always wistle together with the guy at the beginning. Solbi uses her cuter and calmer vocals here with not too much strenght put into it. She manages to catch the feeling perfectly of the song. It’s not really a special song, but definitely worth a listen.

SHINee – The Second Mini-Album ROMEO Review

Tracklist: 1. 니가 맘에 들어 (Talk To You)/2. Juliette/3. 차라리 때려 (Hit Me)/4. 세뇨리따 (Senorita)/5. 잠꼬대 (Please, Don’t Go)/6. 소년, 소녀를 만나다 (Romeo + Juliette)

The comeback for SHINee has finally arrived, they are back with The Second Mini-album ROMEO, released on May 25, 2009. Which celebrates their 1 year anniversary from when they debuted on May 25, 2008. Till now it has sold 19,750 copies in South-Korea and it’s still charting.

———————————————————————————————-

1. We start with up-beat track ‘니가 맘에 들어 (Talk To You)’ I don’t know why, but has this song have do to something with 차라리 때려 (Hit Me)? The 3rd song on the album. On the end of that song they sing ‘Talk to me, talk to me’, also I think this song is a sort of upbeat version of Hit Me, I have no idea why xD The synths are a nice add. And the vocals are nice too. But it’s nothing special to me.

2. Then we go further with ‘Juliette’, the lead single of the mini-album. This song really has the Love like Oxygen feel to it. Especially in the chorus and the parts before the chorus. The beat and bass in the background really works well. Although I do think that chorus may be a bit too busy with it, but it’s not really something you would notice, only when you pay attention to it. The vocals are really nice though.

3. Then we go further with a slow song named ‘차라리 때려 (Hit Me)‘, like I said, I think this song is a continuation of the first song. I’ve got to say that this is my fav song of the whole album, it’s really relaxing. And what’s most enchanting is the ‘beep’ in the chorus, that seems like a sort of heart meter beep. I like that in the bridge that ‘beep’ sort of distort. I don’t know why but I just love the idea. The vocal are really awesome too and there’s a nice rythm in the chorus.

4. I understand why they called this song ‘세뇨리따 (Senorita)‘, it really has the spanish feel to it. But they have put it in a modern jacket, that’s what makes the track really unique. I have to admit that it took some time for me to like it and get used to it, but now it’s something I listen to atleast one time a day.

5. ‘잠꼬대 (Please, Don’t Go)’ is a really nice ballad between Onew and Jonghyun. It really shows the talent and stong vocals of these two and it’s clear they are the two best singer. I love how they do the harmonization in the chorus, it gives a really sad feel. Also andwaeyo is one of the few korean words I know, which made it even more sad. The arrangement is really awesome too, this really is a song I could listen to all day long.

6. We now arrive at a relaxing song called ‘소년, 소녀를 만나다 (Romeo + Juliette)’, it really has a nice and sweet feel to it. The robot parts are a nice add too =]. It’s nothing special to me though. But it’s nice to listen to from time to time when you want to relax ^^ EDIT: Ok, I’ve changed my opinion about this song, it is something special. The song has just got me addicted, the tune is just like your being bewitched or something. The robotic tune at the beginning is so awesome. You just have to listen to it a few times and then you’ll absolutely like it, believe me, haha.

Must Hears: 잠꼬대 (Please, Don’t Go)/차라리 때려 (Hit Me)/세뇨리따 (Senorita)/’소년, 소녀를 만나다 (Romeo + Juliette)’

Berryz Koubou – Seishun Bus Guide/Rival Review

Tracklist: 1. Seishun Bus Guide/2. Rival/3. Seishun Bus Guide (Instrumental)/4. Rival (Instrumental)

‘Seishun Bus Guide/Rival’ is Berryz Koubou’s 20th Single and their first double A-side.

———————————————————————————————-

1. The single start with upbeat song Seishun Bus Guide. A song about high school boys and a bus guide who they fall in love with. To me, Seishun Bus Guide as a sort of old school feel. It’s a pretty good song with enough variations. The singing is pretty good, but it seems like it’s gonna be a pretty hard song to perform live. I’m really glad that all the members got a solo, it seems the lyrics distribution is going to be honest more and more.

2. After that comes a cute pop song with some rock influences titled ‘Rival’. It’s really sweet and the music too, with the cute keyboard effects. What I liked about it that it totally didn’t fit the title. I was expecting a really cool rock song, but this is really good too.

Super Junior Vol. 3 – Sorry Sorry (Version C) Review

Tracklist: 1. SORRY, SORRY/2. 그녀는 위험해 (She Wants It)/3.  너라고 (It’s You)/4. 사랑이 죽는 병 (Love Disease)/5. 첫번째 이야기 (Love U More)/6. 니가 좋은 이유 (Why I like you)/7. 마주치지 말자 (Let’s not…)/8. 앤젤라 (Angela)/9. RESET/10. Monster/11. What If/12. 이별… 넌 쉽니 (Heartquake) (Ft. U-Know & Micky)/13. CLUB No.1 (Ft. YeonHee, Lee)/14. Happy Together/15. 죽어있는 것 (Dead at heart)/16. Shining Star

The Long-awaited comeback for SuJu getting all 13 back together has finally arrived. They’re back with a third new album ‘SORRY, SORRY’. Sorry, Sorry is the third studio album by Super Junior, released on March 12, 2009 in South Korea. In less than a week after preorders were announced, over 150,000 copies were pre-ordered. According to the Hanteo Charts, over 29,000 copies were sold on the first day.

———————————————————————————————-

1. The album starts of with the promotional track ‘SORRY, SORRY’. You really noticed how there styles have changed as Super Junior goes more into the R&B style. It’s suprising how so less notes can make such a catchy song. As for the song and the dance I have fallen in love with this song. The dance break is absolutely amazing and I still don’t get how they do it. Super Junior is not Junior anymore but Super Mature.

2. It goes further with 그녀는 위험해 (She Wants It) which has a nice club feel. The electric keyboard between it really makes it feel more like an old club song. In the chorus it has some guitar which makes it more rock. As for a new song on the album it really is a positive gain.

3. 너라고 (It’s You) really has captivated the fans and it also has captivated me. As soon as I saw the PV for it, I just loved it right away. It has a really nice beat and melody. But somehow it also has a really sad feel. The bas in the background is very nice too. Heechul’s bridge was suprising for me. Cause normally Yesung or Kyuhyun takes over the harder parts, but it’s good to see HeeChul do the harder parts too. Nice too see Heechul is back, now we only need Kibum ^^

4. The album goes further with the calming song 사랑이 죽는 병 (Love Disease). The guitar and beat are really charming. The strings later on really complete it. And the vocals are very beautifull, sung with a lot of emotion. Definitely a must hear.

5. It goes further with a song composed by Sungmin and Ryeowook called 첫번째 이야기 (Love U More). This song has a really sweet feel and it is very calming. For me, it wasn’t really a track to remember, but it’s definitely not bad.

6. We have arrived at 니가 좋은 이유 (Why I like you) a really nice R&B track with awesome beats and a nice guitar. It something like Love Disease but more agressive. The vocals are really nice and really complete it. This is also one of the publics favorite and has been performed a few times already.

7. 마주치지 말자 (Let’s not…) is a ballad by Super Junior K.R.Y. There voices are amazing as always. It really has the sad feel with the orchestral arrangement, especially because of the violins. For me, it didn’t really was something I’d listen to all day, but it’s nice to hear it from time to time.

8. Super Junior goes back into there old style with 앤젤라 (Angela). For me this song reminds me of their old style from their Happiness days. It was nice to hear something like this again. It really has a sweet and poppy feel, although this song is definitely not my favourite, it’s nice to listen to it from time to time.

9. We now go back into there new style with Reset, a really nice ballad with nice guitar again. Their voices are really nice and the chorus is very catchy, when I hear it I always sing ‘Press the reset, press press the reset’ haha.

10. Then follows the mysterious track Monster. It’s a really nice and calming song with an agressive beat but some nice arrangement. If you haven’t seen the translation of the lyrics, you must, it has an amazing meaning. The bridge with Kyuhyun and Ryeowook is really my favourite part, it has a really nice feel and the vocals are just awesome.

11. We then go into a calm song again called ‘What If’. The piano and beat is really nice in it and so are the vocals. For me, it wasn’t a song to remember, it was nice, but nothing more. Although the bridge was really nice.

12. 이별… 넌 쉽니 (Heartquake) (Ft. DBSK’s U-Know & Micky) is a more agressive track with more rap. The piano and agressive beat is really awesome and the raps are really nice too. It’s definitely a must hear.

13. CLUB No.1 (Ft. YeonHee, Lee) really deserved the name, as it has the club feel. The string and beats really complete it and the beat also has a sort of rock feel. The chorus is my favourite part of it because of the arrangement and the voices. Definitely one of my favourite tracks of the album.

14. And we go back again in the old SuJu style with Happy Together. It’s a really sweet song again and easy to listen too. Nothing more though.

15. We go further with one of my favourite tracks ‘Dead at Heart’. Again the guitar just like Why I Like You and Love Disease. But the guitar seems to really work for me. The vocals really speak out emotion for me and it has a sad feel. The chorus really shows their awesome vocals.

16. And the album has come to an end with ‘Shining Star’. For me, this is old SuJu style again xD. It was very nice though with the violins and the piano. It really has a happy and sweet feel and was a nice ending for the album. Nothing special though.

Must Hears: SORRY, SORRY/너라고 (It’s You)/사랑이 죽는 병 (Love Disease)/니가 좋은 이유 (Why I like you)/Monster/죽어있는 것 (Dead at heart)

Rating: 8/10
